Why the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2024 is special:
When you donate to MfM’s Big Give Christmas Challenge, your gift will go FOUR times further! Thanks to generous matching partners and pledgers, every donation made during the campaign will be matched on the Big Give platform, then doubled by a Foundation that believes in Money for Madagascar’s vital education work.
That means each £1 you donate becomes £4 – quadrupling the impact of your support!
How Your Donation Changes Lives:
Our Education for Life programme is transforming hundreds of children’s lives, by improving the quality of education in some of Madagascar’s most remote communities. By focusing on students, teachers, and parents, we’re strengthening entire communities and unlocking long-term benefits: better jobs, better health, improved nutrition, and natural resource management.
But the challenges are immense:

1 in 10 children in Madagascar don’t reach their 10th birthday.

40% of children don’t complete primary school.

Hunger, illness, and lack of resources keep children out of school, while teachers desperately need training and tools to improve their classes.
Your donation will help remove these barriers and improve children’s survival chances, by providing tools and support they and their families need to escape poverty and build a better future.
What will a donation via the Big Give Achieve?

£10 could become £40 (£50 with Gift Aid), and could provide equipment for a school canteen

£100 could become £400 (£500 with Gift Aid), which could cover the annual cost of teacher training in one school

£1,000 would become £4,000 (£5,000 with Gift Aid), which could provide 5 school resource libraries
How the Match Works:
We are very happy to have secured a pledge pot of £30,000 from MfM’s loyal Pledgers and from the Coles-Medlock Foundation, our Champion Funder this year.
This means all public donations up to £30,000 made on the Big Give website from midday on 3rd December to midday on 10th December will be doubled from this pot until we reach £60,000. (Donations beyond £30,000 will still go to this appeal but will not be doubled on the Big Give site).
After the campaign closes on 10 December, the funds will be transferred to MfM at which point that total will be doubled by grant funding from Trusts who give to MfM’s Education for Life Programme: if we reach our target of £60,000 on the Big Give site, this means our Education for Life programme and all its beneficiaries will receive £120,000!
“What if I can’t donate online?”
If you can’t donate through the Big Give website, you can still contribute. Donations made directly to MfM through our usual channels (bank transfer, cheque, or via our MfM donation page) can still be doubled by our Foundation supporter – they just won’t benefit from the doubling on the Big Give platform.
