We are delighted to share photos of the excellent progress on the building of the new Akany Avoko Bevalala AAB Boys\u2019 Centre Dormitory.<\/em><\/h4>\n

As the images show, the building\u2019s structure is complete and its cladding is ready to be installed. Work on the interior will progress next.<\/h4>\n

The new dormitory will have sleeping space for 48 boys (six bedrooms each for eight boys), an increase of 14 places on the 34 in the previous centre.<\/h4>\n

\"\"As we have previously reported, the AAB centre provides protection, care and access to education for boys aged 10-18, who are unable to live with, or have lost, their families.<\/h4>\n

The centre\u2019s previous dormitory was destroyed by fire on Friday 20th<\/sup> September 2024. Fortunately, all the boys were at school at the time, and staff, quickly joined by other community members and firefighters, put the blaze out before it spread.<\/h4>\n

But the dormitory was ruined, and the 34 boys were displaced. Fourteen were placed with foster families, or, where possible, returned to stay with relatives. Twenty were staying at the site\u2019s old dormitory, a total which increased by six when some of the 14 had to return.<\/h4>\n

UpBat Mada construction company is working on the building, and as you will see from the photographs, French NGO CodeGaz has already installed a water tower to provide clean, fresh water to the boys.\"\"<\/h4>\n
