Restore Forests, Renew Futures in Madagascar
Double Your Impact with Earth Raise 2026
Wednesday 22nd – Wednesday 29th April 2026

On Wednesday 25th March, there will be exactly four weeks to go before the Earth Raise 2026 campaign opens, at 12pm UK time on Wednesday 22nd April.
It will run for one week, until 12pm UK time on Wednesday 29th April. During that week, anything you donate through the Earth Raise website will be doubled in value: every £20 you donate will deliver £40 to men, women and children in communities in Madagascar.
Our Earth Raise target is £60,000, which we will use to – as above – Restore Forests, (and) Renew Futures in Madagascar.
We will use what you generously and kindly donate to Malagasy communities, so they can improve their livelihoods and protect their country’s unique, vibrant and vital wild spaces, flora and fauna.

We will do this by working with our partners in Madagascar, and with Malagasy communities, to train Malagasy people in dynamic agro-forestry and climate smart agriculture, restoring degraded land, and start initiatives to increase food security and incomes, and reduce forest clearance; restore land and reforest to recreate spaces for Malagasy plants and animals to thrive; and strengthen community conservation leadership, with savings and loans groups and conservation and environmental stewardship training.
We know – with your help – we can achieve this, and provide opportunities for Malagasy men, women and children to make real improvements to their lives and livelihoods, as well as protecting and growing the extraordinary environment in which they live and upon which we all rely. We know it because we are already doing it.
In Andasibe, North East Madagascar, we are halfway through our Ecological Restoration and Sustainable Livelihood Development for Local Communities project.
Working with our partners Mitsinjo, we have already:
-
Set up a forest restoration nursery: 5,198 native tree seedlings have been grown. Most have been planted to restore five hectares of degraded forest in and around Mitsinjo Park

-
Engaged households in improved farming practices: 128 households have been trained in soil improvement, composting, crop rotation, agroforestry and vegetable production. Almost all are already using these practices

-
Provided livelihood support: we have provided vegetable seeds and coffee seedlings for planting on family plots. Early vegetable harvests are improving food availability and providing income for some families

-
Set up Village Savings and Loans Associations to strengthen resilience: Eight Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs), with 128 members, are now active. Members use small loans to invest in farming, inputs, and cover essential family costs such as school expenses

-
Increased conservation and farming employment and skills: We have engaged and trained 17 local nursery workers and community facilitators, ensuring skills and income remain in the community, farmers are supported and the environment is protected

This year’s Earth Raise is a chance us to unite to preserve and restore the vital, vibrant Malagasy ecosystems we all depend on, while supporting people as they develop and deliver solutions to the challenges they face.
We are already doing this. But there is so much more which, with your help, we can do.
Of our £60,000 target, £30,000 will be from match-funders, meaning your donation will be doubled in value, and have double the impact, uniting conservation and development, livelihoods and the environment.
We are celebrating our 40th anniversary under the slogan ‘Hazo tokana tsy mba ala, Ny firaisakina no hery: One tree does not make a forest – Together we are stronger.’
With Earth Raise 2026, we can unite, stand together, and literally build stronger forests.
