Money for Madagascar\u2019s\u00a0Earth Raise 2026<\/a> fundraising week\u00a0begins at 12pm\u00a0(UK time)\u00a0on Wednesday 22nd<\/sup>\u00a0April\u00a02026.<\/h4>\n

From that moment, until\u00a012pm on Wednesday 29th<\/sup>\u00a0April, we are raising money to\u00a0provide the platform \u2013 equipment, training and seed funding \u2013 upon which Malagasy men, women and children can improve their lives and livelihoods, and protect and expand the vital, vibrant wilderness upon which we all rely.<\/h4>\n

We can only achieve our target – \u00a360,000\u00a0– with your help.<\/h4>\n

And in this week, every\u00a0donation made\u00a0through our Earth Raise 2026 web-page (the links to which will be provided in my next e-mail, and on every Earth Raise 2026 post on Money for Madagascar\u2019s website from Wednesday morning) will not only have double the impact, but will also be doubled in value: every \u00a340 you donate will deliver \u00a380 to Malagasy men, women and children, and the Malagasy wilderness.<\/h4>\n

This initiative is vital.<\/h4>\n

Madagascar is one of the world\u2019s most beautiful, and remarkable, places on Earth.\u00a0It is a critical biodiversity hotspot. Ninety per cent of its species are found nowhere else on Earth.<\/h4>\n

And it is one\u00a0of only four \u2018carbon sinks\u2019 \u2013 regions which absorb more carbon from the atmosphere than they emit \u2013 on Earth, making it one of the world\u2019s last remaining counters to the runaway climate catastrophe increasing temperatures, raising sea-levels\u00a0and causing crop failure.<\/h4>\n

But Madagascar is also losing its wilderness. If deforestation continues as it is, its forests will be gone before 2065.<\/h4>\n

Some of this is driven by poverty. More than 90 per cent of Malagasy men, women and children live on or below the global poverty baseline, and most report missing at least one meal per day.\u00a0Urgent need drives\u00a0many to remove trees to create land to\u00a0grow more food.<\/h4>\n

This vicious cycle can only be ended if we\u00a0take action:\u00a0to reduce poverty\u00a0and<\/em>\u00a0protect Madagascar\u2019s wild spaces.<\/h4>\n
