(My favourite is the Verreaux\u2019s sifaka)<\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4>\u2018<span style=\"color: #646839;\"><em>But unfortunately, Madagascar is also one of the world\u2019s poorest countries.<\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4>\u2018<span style=\"color: #646839;\"><em>More than three quarters of the population live in extreme poverty. Half of all children suffer from stunting due to malnutrition. More than 80 per cent of Madagascar\u2019s forests have been lost due to illegal logging, mining, and widespread deforestation \u2014 often by people who simply have no other way to cook, farm, or survive.<\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #646839;\">\u2018<em>This rapid loss of habitat means many species, like the Verreaux\u2019s sifaka, are now critically endangered.<\/em><\/span>\u2019<\/h4>\n<h4>After his first visit to Madagascar, Gregg wanted to do something to help. He found us.<\/h4>\n<h4>Since then, he has volunteered with us on a number of occasions.<\/h4>\n<h4>He said: \u2018<span style=\"color: #646839;\"><em>MfM does so much to support people and the environment, including providing shelter and care for orphaned and homeless children, supporting community-led forest conservation, responding to natural disasters with life-saving aid.<\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4>\u2018<span style=\"color: #646839;\"><em>Shlepping 100km across the Peak District isn&rsquo;t going to be easy. I can feel the blisters already.<\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4>\u2018<span style=\"color: #646839;\"><em>But it&rsquo;s nothing compared to the challenges facing Madagascar, nor the excellent work of MfM.<\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4>\u2018<span style=\"color: #646839;\"><em>A donation to support me \u2014 no matter how small \u2014 would mean a LOT.
