Big Give, Tuesday 2nd to Tuesday 9th of December 2025: Thank you for everything!
From Tuesday 2nd to Tuesday 9th December 2025, we ran our most ambitious Big Give campaign ever, with a target of raising £100,000 for Malagasy children and their communities.

Madagascar is a country of spectacular beauty.

The world’s fourth-largest island, it contains five per cent of all the world’s species of animals and plants, of which 90 per cent are found only here.
But it and its people face serious challenges.
Madagascar is the world’s fourth-poorest country, and 90 per cent of Malagasy people are living on or below the international poverty baseline: £2.22 per day.
This has serious impacts. 1.32 million Malagasy people are in a situation of severe food insecurity – the next level is famine.
Most have too little food for themselves and their families, and almost all have experienced going to bed hungry.
For children, the outcomes of this poverty are catastrophic:
-
half of all Malagasy children suffer stunting caused by serious malnutrition
-
one in ten dies before their tenth birthday
-
four in ten do not finish primary school
In Malagasy cities, children who cannot live with their families are forced to sleep rough, turn to begging or crime simply to stay alive, and are at risk of abuse.
This is of course unacceptable. And it is where we step in.
Through our Children for the Future programme, Money for Madagascar works with Malagasy communities to ensure children are not left to fend for themselves.
We work with centres to provide:
-
shelter
-
food
-
clothing
-
clean water
-
access to education
-
healthcare
-
care and attention
to young people unable to live with their families.
And through our Education for Life programme, we work with communities to:
-
make sure that schools are accessible
-
train teachers
-
carry out school renovations
-
provide equipment, as well as school meals, clean water, and clean, renewable power
to ensure children and young people have access to the best possible education, and can make the most of it, free from hunger and disease.
But we can only do this with your support.
In this year’s Big Give Christmas Campaign, from Tuesday 2nd to Tuesday 9th December, we targeted £100,000 for our Education for Life and Children for the Future programmes – the ones which carry out the work we listed above.
During the campaign, thanks to our pre-pledgers and our Champion the Coles-Medlock Foundation, all support was doubled in value, meaning our total from donations by you, during the week, was £50,000, which would be doubled in value to £100,000, which we will use to help Madagascar’s children receive the care and the education they deserve.
And when we asked for support and help, you stepped forward and gave with extraordinary generosity, as well as helping us by getting the word out, letting people know what was happening and how they, too, could help.
Overnight on Saturday/Sunday (6th-7th December) we reached our £50,000 target. And by 12pm on Tuesday 9th December, we had raised £51,602, meaning after doubing (the first £50,000), we have an amazing £101,602!
And we really want to say thank you. Thank you for your support, for your faith in us, for your generosity and for every other way in which you have each helped us, in this campaign and over the last 40 years.
And by helping Malagasy children, you also help Malagasy communities going forward, helping them reach their potential and improve lives, livelihoods, health and wellbeing. In this way, you will not only double your impact in terms of cash but also in terms of reach.
So, once again, thank you so much!
