Earth Raise 2026

Restore Forests, Renew Futures in Madagascar

Double Your Impact with Earth Raise 2026

Wednesday 22nd – Wednesday 29th April 2026

From 12pm (UK time) on Wednesday 22nd, to 12pm on Wednesday 29th April, we will be raising money through the Green Match Fund – this year known as Earth Raise. so Malagasy communities can improve their lives and livelihoods, and become stewards of Madagascar’s biodiversity.

It is an opportunity for us to unite to preserve and restore the vital, vibrant Malagasy ecosystems we all depend on, while supporting people as they develop and deliver solutions to the challenges they face.

It is also an opportunity for you to double your impact: everything you donate during the week-long Earth Raise 2026 campaign will be doubled in value. If you donate £20, that will mean £40 goes to Malagasy communities and Malagasy wild spaces.

Madagascar is a critical biodiversity hotspot. Ninety per cent of its species are found nowhere else on Earth. Yet this unique heritage is disappearing fast: the country ranks among the top four globally for deforestation, driven by severe rural poverty.

More than 80 per cent of rural Malagasy households live on less than £1.50 a day. This makes access to food a serious challenge. Families near forests, in need of income and food, clear land for farming, timber, and fuel—putting ecosystems at risk.

One bitter irony is that the soil freed in this way swiftly loses fertility if intensively farmed, and, exposed to the elements, is washed away by increasingly intense rains, driven by climate change.

This vicious cycle can only be ended if we take action to reduce poverty and protect Madagascar’s wild spaces.

Our Earth Raise 2026 campaign is targeting £60,000 – of which £30,000 will be match funded, and £30,000 from you, our supporters.

With that money, we will:

  • train Malagasy people in dynamic agro-forestry and climate smart agriculture – these initiatives restore degraded land, increase crop diversity, resilience and yields, and include developing ‘edible forests’, all of which increase food security and incomes, and reduce the need for forest clearance

  • restore land and reforest. Replanting degraded forest areas with indigenous species will recreate spaces for Malagasy plants and animals to thrive

  • strengthen community conservation leadership – we will develop and strengthen community savings and loans groups to improve environmental protection and stewardship, and improve livelihoods and incomes

Your donation will have double the impact, and will unite conservation and development.

With your help we can help protect and expand the vital, vibrant Malagasy ecosystem upon which we all depend, and train Malagasy people to guard their environment, and escape food insecurity and poverty.

In this, our 40th anniversary year, we are celebrating under the slogan ‘Hazo tokana tsy mba ala, Ny firaisakina no hery: One tree does not make a forest – Together we are stronger.

Earth Raise 2026 is a chance for us all to stand together, and both figuratively and literally build stronger forests.
