(English) Partnership with Mary’s Meals

Mae’n ddrwg gen i, mae’r cofnod hwn dim ond ar gael mewn English.

We are delighted to let you know about our new partnership with Mary’s Meals.  Mary’s Meals is a fantastic charity which started with two brothers from Argyll who wanted to help victims of the war in Bosnia in 1983.  It has now grown and they work in 20 countries across the globe.
Their vision is simple; every child deserves and education and enough to eat.  Their aim is to work in the world’s poorest countries so that every child there receives a nutritious, daily meal in their school as they recognise that children cannot learn if they are hungry.  Education builds futures!
This partnership with us will provide hot lunches for over 4000 children per day in schools and children’s homes which is amazing!
On 26th January the programme started in the centres and will expand to cover 6 centres and 31 schools in total. 30 of these schools are new to MfM.
The six children’s centres are AAA, AAB, AAF, Topaza FJKM Orphanage, SOGS- Centre Fihavanana and Tsinjo Hasina school canteen run by Ankizy Gasy with the Catholic Sisters in Ambohidratrimo.
Food insecurity is a major problem in Madagascar with 50% of the population suffering from malnutrition.  Many children are taken out of school to help with the subsistence farming of their families.  Providing meals for children in schools will encourage families to keep them in education which will help raise families out of poverty in the long-term.
We are very excited to work with Mary’s Meals and are sure it will improve many lives in Madagascar.
