Fortunately, the boys were at school when the fire broke out, and thanks to the swift actions of centre staff and local authorities, the fire was contained and put out. However, the damage is devastating:

  • All the boys’ dormitories are completely destroyed, including the roof, electrical systems, and solar panels
  • 15 bunk beds and 18 mattresses lost
  • 80% of the boys’ clothes and all their school supplies destroyed
  • Personal belongings of the students were also lost

  • Firemen at AAB

Immediate Response:

While emergency measures are in place, including temporary shelter from the Radisson Hotel, the children have lost nearly everything. A rapid needs assessment is currently underway to evaluate the full extent of the damage and the immediate and long-term needs of the boys. Huge thanks to everyone who has already contacted us to offer help in cash and in kind. We will inform you, our vital supporters, as more information becomes available.

In the meantime, we urgently need your help to provide:

  • Safe temporary accommodation until the dormitory can be rebuilt
  • Clothing and school supplies to ensure the boys can continue their education and maintain a sense of normality during this difficult time

Please join us in this time of crisis. Your support will provide these children with the safety, comfort, and care they need as they recover from this devastating event. Every donation counts.
